The problem
What if a workout app gave you someone to show up for?
FitBuddies is a desktop web concept exploring how shared workouts and optional AI support could help people stay consistent. I designed the experience around planning a session, working out together, and deciding what comes next.
Four decisions that shaped the experience
Support around the whole workout.
- 01
Offer support without requiring a partner
I included buddy sessions alongside a solo option with AI support. The idea was to make companionship available while allowing people to exercise independently when schedules don’t align.
- 02
Make the next workout easy to find
I brought upcoming sessions, weekly progress, and shared goals into one dashboard. The hierarchy emphasizes the next session so users can move from checking their progress to preparing for a workout.
- 03
Keep people connected without requiring a camera
During a shared session, workout progress, a synchronized rest timer, and quick reactions provide ways to participate with the camera off. I wanted to explore accountability while giving people control over how visible they are.
- 04
Connect finishing with returning
The completion screen celebrates the shared session and offers space for notes, alongside an action to plan the next workout. Finishing becomes a natural moment to reflect and make another commitment.
What I would test next
The central question is whether shared sessions help people return.
I would test how easily users arrange a workout, follow the synchronized session, and schedule another—and whether the social features feel supportive or pressuring.
